Welcome!

Lost in the Weeds is a biweekly newsletter about gardening and writing, as well as the gardening and writing life. It is amazing how often those two endeavors intersect. Gardeners tend to be thoughtful, well-read people with opinions. Writers tend to be people who like to get their hands dirty. To my mind, gardening and writing go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Yum!

Who Am I?

I am a writer, editor, and gardener in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ve spent many years working in book publishing but for the past 15 years or so I’ve been a garden writer as well. I’m the author of California Fruit and Vegetable Gardening and California Month-by-Month Gardening, both published by Cool Springs Press. I’m also Associate Editor of The American Gardener, the magazine of the American Horticultural Society. I have a novel-in-progress that I’m determined to finish, come hell or climate-change-induced high water.
